MAKE A DIFFERENCE WITH LOUKOUMI is a TV special hosted by Cat Cora and with the fluffy little lamb, Loukoumi, from the Loukoumi book series created by Nick Katsoris, that just wants to make the world a better place. The national TV special, which aired on ABC, FOX and NBC stations, was produced to teach children to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others! It features a segment on Make A Difference Day and teaching kids about good deeds (based on the book Loukoumi's Good Deeds), a segment on Bullying Prevention featuring an animated cartoon of "Loukoumi and The Schoolyard Bully" which was narrated by Nia Vardalos, Morgan Freeman as the schoolyard bully, character voices by Olympia Dukakis, Gloria Gaynor, John Aniston, Frank Dicopoulos, Constantine Maroulis and Alexis Christoforous as the voice of Loukoumi. The show's final segment based on the book Growing up with Loukoumi featured 11 year old Sophia Lotto living her dream day of being a Broadway Star with Tony Nominee Constantine Maroulis! The special was produced by IMG Productions and the Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation (a non-profit corporation started with the consent of the NY State Department of Education to make educational TV specials like this). The special featured only public service announcements for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The National Bullying Prevention Center and The National Philoptochos Society, cameos from amazing celebrities like Nancy O'Dell, Al Roker, Gilles Marini Official, Jake Short, Laura Marano, Olivia Holt, and Jim Nantz plus over 40 of the greatest kids in the world! Make a Difference with Loukoumi coincides with USA Weekend’s National Make a Difference Day and National Bullying Prevention Month. Loukoumi Author Nick Katsoris and the Make A Difference with Loukoumi Project won a USA Weekend National Make A Difference Day Award earlier this year for uniting 20,000 kids each October to do good deeds including a $10,000 donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital from sponsor Newman's Own. Proceeds from the book series also benefit St. Jude. |
